Man Jumps From Seabreeze Bridge In Daytona, Survives Possible Suicide Attempt

Daytona Beach, FL - A man survived a jump from the Seabreeze Bridge in Daytona Beach on Wednesday morning during what appears to have been an attempted suicide.

Police responded at 10:45 AM after being tipped off about a man in the channel of the Halifax River. They learned that a white man in his 50's or 60's was pulled from the water by firefighters with a jet ski. The man's speech was slurred, but he did mention something to firefighters about ending his life, according to a news release from Daytona Beach police.

After speaking with firefighters, the man fell unconscious and was taken by a trauma response team to Halifax Health in Daytona.

Three witnesses told investigators that they heard the man mumbling as he was standing on top of the bridge. Police say alcohol may have been a factor. The man's name is not being released yet until next-of-kin is notified.
