Man In Wheelchair Dies After Being Hit On A1A In Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL-Police in Daytona Beach say a 78-year-old man in an electric wheelchair hit by a vehicle Saturday night was not in a crosswalk. He died of his injuries Sunday at Halifax Hospital after being transported as a trauma alert.

The accident happened just after 11 PM in the 1400 block of South Atlantic Avenue. The vehicle that hit him was going about 35 MPH.

The victim is identified as Sheldon Berger.

A Holly Hill man was driving the pickup truck that hit Berger. Police say the investigation is continuing but no charges are expected to be filed.
