Deltona, FL - A man's behind bars and facing a felony theft charge after he picked up a cell phone at a Deltona Walmart and refused to return it to its 4-year-old owner. The young girl accidently left her cell phone on the floor at Walmart after she and her uncle stopped to look at a Redbox. When they realized and came back the phone was gone, so her father sent a text message to the phone explaining it belonged to a 4-year-old girl and she needed it back. The man who picked up the phone responded, "LMAO ok well the Walmart floor said I can have it." A Volusia County Sheriff's Office detective reviewed Walmart's surveillance video and spotted the man who picked up the phone. The detective also saw the girl crying when she went back and couldn't find her phone. The suspect was seen going to the pick-up counter to get an online purchase and detectives used the receipt to get his name and order number. Using that info the detective identified the suspect and he was picked up in a traffic stop on a theft charge. That charge was upgraded to a felony because he has 6 prior theft convictions. The phone was returned to the girl.
