Man Dies After Being Shot In Flagler; Father Charged With 1st Degree Murder

Flagler Beach, FL - Update 5/1/2017: New information provided by Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney indicates the suspect in this incident is Bobby Earl Gore, not Bobby Lee Gore, as previously reported from a press release from the FBPD.

 

Earlier Reporting: 1 man is dead and his father has been charged with 1st Degree Murder with a Firearm after a shooting in Flagler Beach early Sunday morning.

According to the Flagler Beach Police Department (FBPD), on Sunday, April 30, at 12:26 AM, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a shooting at a residence on South Daytona Ave. in Flagler Beach.

The FBPD reports that officers from the FBPD and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) responded to the call and upon arrival at the residence they located the victim, Lucas David Gore, 31, slumped over a table and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Rescue personnel.

The suspect in the case is the victim's father, Bobby Lee Gore, 74, who was located inside the residence and secured. He was armed (with a firearm) when contacted by law enforcement.  He has been charged with 1st Degree Murder with a Firearm and was booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility on Sunday.

"This case is an absolute tragedy. As a Department our hearts really go out to the Gore family. Our victims advocates are committed to assisting the Gore family during this most difficult of times and please keep them in your thoughts and prayers," said Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney.

The FBPD says the investigation of the case utilized resources from the following agencies: the FBPD, the FCSO, the State Attorney's Office Homicide Investigations Unit, the Florida Department of Law enforcement's Crime Scene Unit and the Medical Examiner's Office.

"The teamwork displayed by all of our Law Enforcement partners in this case was stellar. This investigation utilized personnel from City, County and State agencies, and it was impressive to watch these professionals working together in unison," said Chief Doughney. "Cases like this are difficult for everyone involved, to include law enforcement, and I couldn't be prouder of the work done in this investigation."

The Medical Examiner's Office will be performing and autopsy and this investigation is continuing.
