Man Convicted Of Flagler Beach Double Murder Re-Sentenced To Life In Prison

Posted

Flagler County, FL - The man who was sentenced to death in 2011 for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at a home in Flagler Beach was re-sentenced to life in prison on Monday. William Gregory was found guilty in 2011 of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, 17-year-old Skyler Dawn Meekings, and 22-year-old Daniel Arthur Dyer at close range in 2007 while a 1-year-old child was asleep in a nearby bedroom. The jury later recommended the death penalty for Gregory by a 7-5 margin. Since Gregory's conviction, the Florida Supreme Court has changed the rules for death penalty cases, ruling that verdicts must now be unanimous in order to recommend the death penalty. Gregory's death sentence was thrown out earlier this year, and on Monday, a judge commuted Gregory's sentence to life in prison without parole on both counts of murder.
