Ormond Beach, FL - Police in Ormond are looking for the man who carjacked a woman, but needed her help to start the car.

Police got to the Love's Truck Stop at 1457 N US-1 around 1:30 PM on Wednesday October 12 where the victim said she was carjacked by an unknown white man.

She told officers that he came up to her, demanded her keys, then forcefully took the keys from her. "He then got in the car and didn't know how to work the push start remote ignition," said Keith Walker, Training Coordinator and Public Information Officer at the Ormond Beach Police Department. "So now he's yelling at her to tell him how to start her car so he can steal it. And at this point he starts threatening that he has a firearm.

The victim was able to get her dog out of the vehicle before the man figured out how to start the car.

Police believe he left the Truck Stop heading north on US-1 because the victim's cell phone was found north of the crime scene.

The suspect's been described as a white man between the ages of 35 and 40, about 6 ft tall, and around 170 lbs with a slender build. He was last seen wearing tan clothing and a camo hat.

The stolen vehicle is a 2011 Lincoln MKS with an Ohio Tag number GVK6638. It's white with black rain guards above the windows and it has black mud flaps.

Anyone with information should call OBPD at 677-0731 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS, where you may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
