Orange City, FL - A man in Orange City was arrested early Thursday morning after he said he mistakenly shot at a woman who came to his door over a dispute about a dog, and the woman was injured by shattered glass from the gunshot. 71-year-old Robert Mosher fired the weapon after a 38-year-old woman, who was visiting family on a neighboring property, came to his door to confront him about a dog that was loose on the property and had attacked her. It has not yet been confirmed whether the dog was Mosher's. Deputies responded to the scene on Alice Dr. at about 1:22 AM. Mosher told deputies that he had been asleep when he heard someone kicking and pounding on his front door, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office. He said he saw a shadow through the front window, so he grabbed a 9mm handgun and accidentally shot through the window. When he opened the door, he saw a woman running down the driveway, yelling, and he fired the gun toward her again as she ran away. The woman originally thought she had been hit by a gunshot, but she was not hit by any bullets, according to VCSO. She later discovered that cuts on her arm and abdomen were from the flying pieces of glass. She declined medical treatment at the time. Mosher was taken to Volusia County Branch Jail and was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was released on Thursday after posting a $20,000 bond.
