Daytona Beach Shores, FL - Investigators from the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety have made an arrest in the murder of the 34-year-old mother of three who was found stabbed at the Hawaiian Inn on September 22. After detectives obtained a warrant, police arrested Darron Woodberry, 25, of South Daytona for Second Degree Murder. He was arrested on Thursday, October 27, at US food, where he works, without incident. He's being held at the Volusia County Jail on $250,000 bail. Officials say Woodberry was stopped by Officer Darius DeBarros for speeding at around 4:30 AM on September 22 as he left the area of the Hawaiian Inn. DeBarros was then dispatched to the Hawaiian Inn about an hour later, where he tried to resuscitate Olympia Cerruti. “This was just a matter of a young officer out here in the middle of the night doing good police work, which led us to our suspect,” said Director Stephan L. Dembinsky. Investigators identified Woodberry by matching him to surveillance video at the Hawaiian Inn and from Officer DeBarros' body-worn camera. Woodberry was also tied to Cerruti and the scene of the murder through biological evidence and phone and text records. For earlier reporting, click here.
