Man Arrested In Daytona After Beating Two With Hammer

Update: The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Arenthius Dante Jenkins. He is being charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Battery and one count of Aggravated assault with a Deadly Weapon.

DBPD is still waiting on next of kin to be notified before the victim's names are released.

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police arrested a man after he allegedly beat two people bloody with a hammer and a bat.

Units responded to the 200 block of Jefferson street around 2 PM on Friday after getting a call about a man in all black assaulting people with a hammer and a bat. When police arrived on scene they found a potential suspect holding two hammers that had blood on them. That suspect was immediately taken into custody.

Units found two victims that had been badly beaten in the head and body. Both were treated on scene then sent to Halifax Hospital. One of the victims is in grave condition - his injuries could be life-threatening. The other victim is in critical condition. The two victims were working on a house on Jefferson St. They haven't been identified yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
