Palm Coast, FL - A man under arrest by Flagler County deputies for child abuse adds battery on law enforcement to his list of charges.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to Eastlake Drive in Palm Coast last Friday (August 17th) in reference to a domestic disturbance. That's where FCSO found 61-year-old Brian Dobis standing in the garage of the home, according to his arrest report.

Deputies asked Dobis to step outside the home and speak to them when he began to ball his fists and walk back inside. Deputies ordered Dobis another two times to step outside before Dobis told deputies "I'm going to sit here" and sat on the steps just inside the home. He continued to not comply with deputies, yelling at them, per the report.

At that point, deputies ordered Dobis to place his hands behind his back but he continued to resist them. That's when deputies noticed a strong alcoholic odor coming from Dobis, according to the report.

After a couple of minutes of struggling, deputies were able to restrain Dobis and escort him outside the home to their patrol car. It's on that walk to the car that Dobis thrust his elbow into the chest of one of the deputies before trying to kick his leg out, per the report.

Deputies were finally able to restrain Dobis in their car and begin their investigation, which showed that Dobis and his wife were in an argument when their daughter began to record it on their phone. When Dobis noticed his daughter recording the argument, he attempted to take her phone. When she refused, Dobis struck her several times in the face. The report shows the abuse continuing until she gave up her phone.

The daughter then told Dobis she was calling law enforcement, at which point she grabbed her mother's phone and ran to her sister's bathroom to call FCSO.

Deputies found that Dobis has been belittling his daughter for some time, and has abused her in the past, but those alleged incidents were not reported to law enforcement.

A quick check of Dobis' past also found several incidents of alcohol-related criminal charges, including two DUI charges and one charge of disorderly intoxication.

Dobis was charged with child abuse, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest with violence.

He was booked into Flagler County Jail and has since posted bond, which totaled $7,000.
