Ormond Beach, FL – No injuries are reported after a lightning strike sparked a house fire in Ormond Beach.

Ormond Beach fire and police personnel responded to the scene on Northbrook Drive around 6:15 p.m. last night, according to city spokesperson Loretta Moisio.

“The four occupants and their two dogs were safely evacuated from the home without injury,” Moisio added.

Volusia County Fire Services assisted Ormond Beach Fire Department in putting out the fire, per Moisio.

The fire happened just northeast of Ormond Beach Middle School, off the eastern edge of Tomoka State Park.

Damage to the home is estimated at around $45,000, per Moisio.

The strike happened as a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for much of Volusia and Flagler counties.
