New Smyrna Beach, FL - With the government shutdown almost a month old, members of a New Smyrna Beach church are collecting donations of food, personal hygiene, baby supplies and anything that is used on a day to day basis for Coast Guard members at the New Smyrna Beach station.
The Cross Creek Community Church is the drop-off point for non-perishable items. A church spokesperson said they cannot accept cash or checks but gifts cards in $25 amounts can be distributed. They have gifts cards from Publix and Walmart and some gas cards. She said that gift cards for cell phone service would also be useful.
The spokesperson said they will be collecting as long as there is a need. If you'd like to help out, Cross Creek Community Church is located at 424 Luna Bella Lane in New Smyrna Beach.
