Homeless Man Threatens DeLand Goodwill Employees With Machete

jail prison jump suit DeLand, FL-DeLand Police arrested a homeless man who threatened to kill several people, including a security officer on Tuesday afternoon. The man, 31-year-old Daniel Merrill, is accused of threatening to kill employees at a Deland Goodwill store with a machete. Merrill was arrested shortly after police say he took a table from store inventory and pulled out a machete when employees confronted him. He said he would kill them if police were called. Police reports show that Merrill dropped the table and ran off.  He was next seen running from the Wal-Mart on Woodland Blvd.  Video from Wal-Mart showed Merrill stealing items, including a handicapped placard from a vehicle in the parking lot. Merrill faces charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery, vehicle robbery, trespassing and felony petty theft.
