Daytona Beach, FL-It's gonna be big at the beach today as the National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Surf Advisory for Monday. That advisory is in effect until 11 PM tonight and warns of breaking waves in the surf zone of 6 to 8 feet.
The surf is being driven by strong onshore winds gusting up to 25 MPH.
Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue advising to always swim in front of a lifeguard no matter the conditions.
Volusia County Beach Safety Senior Captain Andrew Etheridge said red and purple flags flew Sunday due to heavy surf and reports of man-o-war washing in. Beach Safety had to close driving due to higher than normal tides.
