Daytona Beach, FL – The Halifax Humane Society is hosting several holiday specials and events, including a “Clear the Shelter” Black Friday Promotion that features huge discounts on pet adoption fees.

For this year’s Black Friday promotion all black or predominately black animals will have a $10 adoption fee. “Studies have shown that typically black animals may see less adoption, or be less popular within the community,” said Amber Marcoux, Community Outreach Director for HHS. “That’s why were giving, specifically, a $10 adoption fee to the black animals. But all other animals are 50% off because we want all of the animals here at the shelter to find homes, especially this holiday season.”

During last year’s Black Friday event HHS was able to help almost 60 pets find homes. The goal this year is to clear the shelter.

Also on Friday, November 25th, HHS will be hosting a holiday winter camp for children. Marcoux encourages parents to drop their kids off before they go shopping for Black Friday deals. At the camp children will do holiday crafts, play with animals, and learn from animal experts. The camp is scheduled for 9 AM to 3 PM and is open to kids between the ages of 8 and 11. The camp costs $50 per child. That fee covers materials, food, and drinks. There’s only space for 20 children. To register a child go to HHSPawsCamp.org.

Saturday November 26th is Small Business Saturday, and HHS is encouraging shoppers to support their thrift store in Ormond Beach. Each purchase at the thrift store helps support HHS and the 25,000 animals they take care of each year.
