DeLand, FL – A fatal crash has occurred on Woodland Blvd. and Mercers Fernery Rd. in DeLand.
At around 2 PM on Sunday, FHP troopers arrived at the scene of a fatal head-on collision. According to FHP, a 2004 Chevy Impala was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Woodland Blvd.
Gavin Dickinson, 50, was driving a 2017 Nissan SUV northbound on Woodland Blvd. when the Impala crashed into the front of his car. The driver of the Impala, a 38-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Dickinson was taken to Halifax Health Hospital with serious injuries.
The northbound lanes of Woodland Blvd. were still blocked an hour after the crash occurred. The accident is currently being investigated and the name of the man who died will be released when next of kin is notified.
