xmas-santa-boat-2 Daytona Beach, FL - The Halifax River Yacht Club is hosting their annual Christmas Boat Parade this Saturday. This year, HRYC is partnering with Light The Way, and a portion of every sponsorship will be donated to that organizaion. Speaking of Light The Way and how it got started, Angela Heaster, the founder of the local community network, said, “the gas lamp shops on Granada recognized that our cancer community needed help with needs that aren’t covered by insurance. So the shops began to have fund raising events, and I was inspired to start the Light The Way community network. We support cancer patients with their needs, when there is no other place to go.” To learn more about Light The Way, go to LightTheWayVolusia.org. The Christmas Boat Parade is open to anyone who wants to participate, and there is a special award specifically for new boaters. Additional awards are given for sail and power categories, and they'll be judged on theme, music, and lights. If you want to decorate your boat and enter the parade go to HRYC.com. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 10, and the decorated boats will start out north of the Seabreeze Bridge at dusk, then they'll head south on the Halifax River. Details on the parade route can be found on the Yacht Club's website, HRYC.com. To learn more, go to the HRYC Annual Christmas Boat Parade's Facebook page. xmas-santa-boat
