Deltona, FL – Soon, officials will begin the construction of the City of Deltona’s first hospital, Halifax Health Medical Center of Deltona.
At 11 AM on Monday, December 4, Halifax Health will celebrate the new hospital with a groundbreaking ceremony right beside the Halifax Health - Emergency Department of Deltona, located at 3300 Halifax Crossing Boulevard in Deltona. Halifax Health, Volusia County Government, the City of Deltona and surrounding West Volusia officials will be in attendance.
Last year, the Agency for Healthcare Administration approved Halifax Health’s wishes to build a 96-bed hospital in Deland. The Agency is known as the State of Florida’s main health policy and planning organization. The new hospital will stand 6 levels high and will be equipped with laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, endoscopy and surgical services. The hospital will also feature a catheterization laboratory/interventional radiology, post-anesthesia care unit, intensive care unit, 2 operating rooms, food service, a gift shop, and a chapel.
In total, the project is expected to cost $105 million and require 202,242 square feet of new construction. A central energy plant and surface parking lots will also be built to accompany the new hospital.
The hospital will have direct access to the existing emergency department that opened April 2017. The Halifax Health Emergency Department of Deltona is a 16-bed emergency room with 12 examination rooms (such as a bariatric examination room), areas for trauma patients, an isolation room, and a decontamination room.
