Thieves Hit Palm Coast, Port Orange Gun Stores During Hurricane Power Outage

Palm Coast and Port Orange, FL-Authorities are investigating two cases where over 100 guns were stolen from gun stores here during power outages from Hurricane Matthew. One break-in was in Palm Coast and the other in Port Orange. In Port Orange, police say 79 firearms were stolen from the Florida Gun Exchange at 5811 Ridgewood Avenue in a burglary that happened sometime between 5:30 PM October 7 and 11 AM October 8. The crime being investigated by Port Orange police and the ATF. A $5,000 reward is being offered. In Palm Coast,  the good news is they've recovered 20 stolen guns while the bad news is bad guys got away with a total of 41 in a break-in at a gun store. Thieves hit Robert Weidig's Gunsmith Shop while the power was out from Hurricane Matthew. The Palm Coast burglary was discovered October 9. The door to the shop had been pried open. The Palm Coast burglars took 41 rifles, shotguns, and handguns, along with ammo and other equipment. An investigation resulted in a search warrant served Monday night where 20 of the stolen weapons were recovered. The investigation involves the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
