Volusia County, FL-The man convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Crystal Pifer has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole . Thomas Prins was before Judge Clayton Wednesday afternoon. Prins was found guilty last week but sentencing was delayed after he fainted in court.
Crystal Pifer was murdered and her body thrown in the Halifax River in August of 2015. The investigation showed that Pifer's body was found floating in the Halifax River with ligature marks around her neck. The Medical Examiner determined that Pifer was asphyxiated. She was also covered in bruises from head to toe.
