Orange City, FL - A Volusia County grand jury indicts an Orange City man for first-degree murder in the death of his neighbor earlier this summer.

Matthew A. Barber is also facing a felony county of armed burglary with assault/battery following the deliberations last week, according to Orange City Deputy Police Chief Wayne Miller.

"On August 14th [today] at approximately 3:30 p.m., the arrest warrant pertaining to the above two felony counts was served on Barber at the New River Valley Regional Jail located in Dublin, Virginia," Miller added. "Barber remains incarcerated in Virginia on a no bond status."

There's no extradition date set at this time for Barber, according to Miller.

The 49-year-old Barber confessed to the murder of 58-year-old Hilda Bailey last July after he was arrested on a driving while impaired charge in Virginia, according to police.
