Florida - FL Governor Rick Scott says he plans to veto over $256 million from the new state budget, including funding for several local programs and projects.

Gov. Scott released his planned budget vetoes on Tuesday before the budget, signed by legislators on Friday, even reached his desk. According to Scott's press release, he does plan to sign the $82 billion budget.

In total, it appears that Scott will veto nearly $3.3 million in local program funding.

The highlight for Volusia County on Scott's veto hit list is the $1 million planned expansion of the Marine Science Center.

Also on the long list of vetoes was a $500,000 upgrade at the Florida Agricultural Museum in Flagler County and $1.5 million statewide in school technology, including almost $133,000 to Volusia schools for "acquisition of devices."

Not all the news is bad for Volusia County...

It looks like the $955 million in grants and aids to state colleges will avoid Scott's veto pen, and DSC is 8th on the list with nearly $39 million. DSC is also 8th on the list of Florida state colleges in terms of funding with $12.4 million. To top it off, DSC will be getting $3.6 million for the construction of a new building.

Nearly $14 million for early learning in Volusia and Flagler, over $500,000 for Flagler adults with disabilities, and $200,000 to Volusia County Water Supply for the protection of Blue Spring  survived Scott's veto hit list.

The entire list of Gov. Scott's planned vetoes can be found here.
