Fundraiser Will Help Orange City Firefighter Hurt Helping Murder Victim

Posted
Pumper-Pull 2 Volusia County, FL-An injured Orange City firefighter-paramedic will be the beneficiary of a Pumper-Pull in Sanford on Saturday. Caroline Dorton was severely injured when she was run over by the husband of a woman she was trying to help. Dorton was eating in a restaurant on April 17 when she heard that a woman had been stabbed in the parking lot. She and another person rushed to help Chericia Brown, who was gravely injured by her husband, Henry Brown. Henry Brown ran off to get his car and came back to run over Dorton, Chericia Brown and the other person at the scene. Chericia died at the scene and Brown would eventually kill their two children and himself. Dorton was in the hospital for 25 days and is now in rehab but doing really well, according to fellow firefighter Kristi Campbell. While the Pumper-Pull is to raise money to help with Dorton's expenses, Campbell said the event should also raise her morale. Campbell said that firefighters, businesses and the community have stepped up to let Dorton know they care. Saturday's all day fundraiser starts with a motorcycle poker run, sponsored by the Orange City Police Department. The Pumper-Pull begins at 4 P.M. with teams from a number of surrounding counties. You can also dunk-a chief at the dunk tank. Details can be found by clicking here.  A Go-Fund-Me account has also been set up and here's the link.
