Daytona Beach, FL - No criminal charges are expected after a 38-year-old man on a bicycle was hit and killed by a pickup truck over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Daytona Beach Police Department responded to the intersection of Nova Road and Brentwood Drive just after 6 p.m. Friday (November 23rd). According to the report, the 53-year-old woman driving the 2008 Ford truck involved told officers she was heading north on Nova when Tyrone F. Allen crossed in front of her vehicle heading east. Investigators think Allen didn't have any lights on his bicycle and wasn't using a crosswalk when he was struck, leading the Ford driver to stop at the scene. Officers determined that Allen violated Gentry's right of way. Another witness at the scene also told DBPD he almost struck Allen. The investigation is still active. DBPD is asking anyone with information about this accident to text "CRIMES" (274637). Cell phone users should begin the message with "DBTIPS". You can also click here to submit a web tip anonymously.
