Florida - Free boat safety inspections are being offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

A specially trained Auxiliary Vessel Examiner will come to your boat, wherever it is, and complete a safety inspection free of charge. During the inspection, the examiner will check to see if the boat meets all federal and state safety requirements. If the boat doesn't pass the first inspection, the Examiner will come back and certify the boat after the needed changes have been made.

Once the boat passes inspection, the owner will be given a sticker. When law enforcement sees this sticker, they will know not to stop the boat for a safety check.

If you are stopped by law enforcement and you fail their safety check, you will receive a hefty fine.

Safety checks in Daytona Beach are routinely held on the second Tuesday of each month, at 7:15 PM, at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building in the Halifax Harbor Marina, Daytona Beach.
