Former VCSO Deputy Turns Himself In And Posts Bond, Faces 5 Felony Charges

Volusia County, FL - John Braman, the former Volusia County Sheriff's deputy caught on his own body camera stealing money from a driver he arrested, turned himself into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Friday.

Braman posted a $4,000 bond, and his hearing that was originally set for Tuesday morning was cancelled. Braman's defense attorney, Michael Lambert, entered a Notice of Appearance and a written plea of Not Guilty.

The next court date for Braman is a pre-trial hearing for June 21st at 1:30 PM with Judge Kathryn D. Weston.

Volusia County, FL - A former Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputy who was caught on his own body camera stealing cash from a driver he arrested is facing five felony charges.

John Braman, 34, was charged in four cases on Thursday after a joint investigation between the FL Department of Law Enforcement and VCSO. The defense set a hearing to address bond on June 6 at 9:45 AM before Judge Kathryn D. Weston. Charges include grand theft, official misconduct, and narcotics possession.

Braman resigned in January after he was accused of stealing money from DUI suspects, forcing the state attorney's office to dismiss 18 cases he was involved with.
