Former Pastor Charged With Taking Upskirt Photo

Deltona, FL – The former pastor of a Deltona church is out on $2,500 bond after deputies arrested him for taking an upskirt photo of a parishioner.

31-year-old Brian “Rick” Kenyon Jr. was booked yesterday afternoon at Volusia County Jail for that April 8th incident at Church of Christ of Deltona at 1301 Providence Boulevard.

VCSO spokesperson Andrew Gant says the victim – a 41-year-old woman – reported what happened on April 24th, over two weeks later.

“The incident occurred when she attended Sunday service,” Gant added. “The victim said she was meeting with Kenyon in his office along with his children [when] he asked her to put his youngest child into a car seat.”

As she bent over to do that, that’s when she felt “skin” touch her leg underneath her dress, per Gant.

“She turned around and found Kenyon bent over directly behind her,” Gant noted. “She noticed he was holding his cell phone and it had a red light on.”

According to the arrest report, the victim had agreed to watch Kenyon’s kids for him during the service and she had gone to his office to return his children.

The victim also claimed that Kenyon “appeared nervous” before the incident and that she didn’t confront him as soon as it happened, but she and other church members did later on, eventually leading to his removal as pastor by the congregation’s vote.

Kenyon denied the allegation when confronted at first, but did admit to having a “pornography problem” at the time, per the report. A second confrontation set up by Kenyon’s wife over a week after the incident did lead to his admission that he took a photo up the woman’s dress, calling it a “dark moment” that he soon deleted from his phone.

It doesn’t appear that Kenyon was involved in any other incidents like this, especially with kids, per Gant.

“Church staff reported he had no unsupervised contact with children at the church,” Gant noted. “The church had not received any complaints about any inappropriate behavior with children.”

Kenyon refused to speak to VCSO about what happened and retained an attorney, per the report.
