Orange City, FL – Florida Hospital Fish Memorial (FHFM) was recently joined by hundreds of community members to celebrate the grand opening of a new Wellness and Rehab Care Center.

On May 31, over 250 members of the community attended a grand opening ceremony which included a tour of the center, entertainment and refreshments.

“We have been planning this for quite some time and are so excited to finally be able to share this with the community,” says the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial chief operating officer, Danielle Johnson.

The new Wellness and Rehab Care Center is in the Volusia Medical Center at FHFM. The colorful 7,700-square-foot space will host rehab services for patients with heart and lung diseases and for patients who need physical, occupational or speech therapy.

The center has a full kitchen and bathroom to help patients relearn and practice activities needed for daily life and self-care. FHFM’s community garden will be used by patients to help them regain fine motor skills by gardening.

“The new Wellness and Rehab Care area is so much larger than our old Wellness and Rehab departments,” says Johnson. “By consolidating these two departments into one large, colorful, comprehensive space, we can care for more patients each day, in a more comfortable and spacious environment, and offer new and exciting therapies that we weren’t able to before.”
