Flagler Sheriff's Office Urges Drivers To 'Drive Sober' This Labor Day Weekend

Posted

Flagler County, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is reminding drivers to stay safe and sober on the roads this Labor Day Weekend. FCSO is partnering with the Florida Law Enforcement Liason Program, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. It is an enforcement, education, and awareness operation within Flagler County to reduce drunk driving, crashes, and aggressive driving. This weekend, as part of the campaign, patrol squads will increase countywide presence and DUI enforcement with motorcycle, bike, and beach units. In addition, marine patrol units will be promoting boater safety and safe vessel operation along the area's intra-coastal waterways. Along the county's roads, message boards will be reminding drivers to stay safe and sober. Also, the FCSO Sheriff-Taxi car will be on display in Palm Coast and will be used for DUI enforcement. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly urges residents, "We hope you have a safe holiday weekend and choose a safe ride. You don't want to take our one-way taxi ride to the Green Roof Inn, so remember this weekend and every day to drive sober or get pulled over."
