Flagler County, FL - With Flagler County school children kicking off their Spring Break at the same time that Bike Week rolls into town, Flagler Beach police say that residents should expect heavy crowds and more law enforcement on the roads.
Flagler Schools' Spring Break and Bike Week both run March 9-18, and Flagler Beach police will be ready with additional law enforcement services from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
“Last year, these two events coincided, and the additional presence of uniformed law enforcement officers on motorcycles, bicycles, and ATV’s in the core area of the City worked extremely well. Bikers & Breakers had a great time. Sheriff Staly has again graciously agreed to provide additional deputies to assist our Officers with this year’s event, and his willingness and commitment to our agency is greatly appreciated," explains Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney.
The law enforcement officers will focus efforts on the core area of Flagler County, specifically SR 100 and A1A. They will use ATV's, bicycles, motorcycles, and foot patrols to track down underage drinking, littering, illegal parking, and physical disturbances.
“Flagler Beach encourages visitors to enjoy all that our City has to offer, and we ask that you respect our City Ordinances and State Laws,” says Doughney. “Our City has many unique shops and restaurants, as well as an iconic Pier and six miles of scenic beaches. We simply ask that you respect our City, have a great time and act accordingly.”
