Flagler County Warns Residents About Nearby FEMA Home Inspection Scam

Flagler County, FL – Flagler County residents are warned that FEMA imposters have been reported in nearby areas.

Flagler County Emergency Management reminds residents that real FEMA employees wear a lanyard with their badges clearly displayed. Members of FEMA staff will never ask you for money for inspecting your home.

“It has come to my attention that individuals claiming to be from FEMA are telling residents they are there to do a home inspection,” said Flagler County Public Safety Emergency Manager, Sally Sherman. “If they don’t have a FEMA badge, and they are not from FEMA.”

St. Johns County officials have reported that a homeowner was approached about a home inspection when they had not even applied for FEMA assistance.

“I don’t want any of our residents to fall prey to one of these scam artists,” said Sherman. “Ask them to leave and then call the Sheriff’s Office.”

If you believe you have been involved in a similar incident, you are urged to contact the non-emergency Flagler County Sheriff’s Office number at 386-313-4911.
