flagler county sheriffs car 2 Bunnell, FL - A Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy is hailed as a hero after he rescued a woman from a truck that had flipped over in a watery ditch. 911 dispatchers received a call at 1:41 AM Thursday from a woman who said she was trapped inside her vehicle off of the County Road 80 and County Road 65 intersection in Bunnell. FCSO Deputy Aaron Beausoleil was first on the scene and he found an overturned truck in a watery 6-foot ditch when he arrived, according to Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre. "I'm very proud of our deputy," Manfre added. "He did exactly what he's trained to do and we had a good outcome from a bad situation." When he approached the vehicle, the 24-year-old deputy says he couldn't see the driver but he could hear her through the locked door. "She was yelling," Beausoleil noted. "I told her I was going to use my baton to smash the window. The water level wasn't that high but there was water coming inside the cab. It was definitely a bad situation." Along with another deputy, Beausoleil was able to pull the 21-year-old woman out of the car and eventually calm her down. She only suffered minor injuries - including a bruised left shin - and declined medical attention. The woman said she was traveling west on CR 80 when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing her vehicle to overturn and land in the ditch. She told dispatchers that she didn't call for help until around 45 minutes after the crash because she couldn't find her phone and couldn't remove her seat belt. Beausoleil was hired by FCSO as a road patrol deputy in January 2015. aaron beausoleil
