Flagler Beach's "Shred The Word" Event Destroys Tons Of Sensitive Documents

shred-shredded Flagler Beach, FL - The "Shred the Word" event held on Saturday, January 7, in Flagler Beach was a hit! According to Police Chief Matt Doughney, over 6,000 pounds of paper were collected in the span of about 2 hours. “The public’s response and support for this event were overwhelming,” said Chief Doughney. “The thought process behind this free event was to help prevent identity theft in our community and I think we accomplished that on Saturday. The collection and secure shredding of over 3 tons of documents that could easily be used to steal someone’s identity is a great way to start off the new year.” The shredding machine that was used at the event was provided by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Synergy and Homebridge Financial Services. “This, our 2nd annual paper shredding event, was a huge success,” said Kendall Caputo, Broker and Owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Synergy. “In the past two years, we helped area residents securely destroy over ten thousand pounds of unneeded documents with personal information. We are grateful to our co-sponsors, the Flagler Beach Police Department and Homebridge Financial Services, for making this free community service possible.” shred-the-word
