Flagler Beach Pier Re-opens Following 9-Month Closure Due To Hurricane Matthew

Flagler Beach, FL – Soon, the Flagler Beach Pier will re-open to the public.

On June 24, the world-famous Pier will be open after its 9-month-long closing due to the damage it sustained from Hurricane Matthew. During that time, structural engineers worked on the bridge trying to get it ready to open again.

On Saturday, July 1 at 9 AM, a ribbon-cutting and re-opening ceremony will take place at the Pier to celebrate its long-awaited opening.

“We’re extremely excited about the reopening of our Pier and I’d like to kindly remind our local surfers that City Ordinance 6-56 (a) prohibits surfing within 150 feet on either side of the Municipal Pier,” says Flagler Beach Police Chief, Matt Doughney. “Our historic Pier is a cornerstone of our beautiful City and we’ve all patiently waited for it to re-open. Those who enjoy fishing off the Pier and those that enjoy surfing outside of the 150-foot limit can continue to coexist based on following established rules and mutual respect.”
