Flagler Beach, FL – The Flagler Beach Police Department has released an update on the status of the famous Flagler Beach Pier that has been closed since sustaining damages during Hurricane Matthew.

The pier has been undergoing significant repairs after the hurricane. Although it has not been officially open to the public, pier engineers allowed the 4th annual “Cheer the Pier” event to take place on the part of the pier safe for use. The event was only designated for 3 hours on April 22.

As of right now, the pier is still not open to the public. However, officials are hopeful that the reopening of the pier will take place on June 1.

“Our pier is beloved and as a City we’re excited about it reopening to the public as soon as all repairs are completed and structural engineers determine it to be safe,” says Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as the pier is closed for repairs. We’re looking forward to the pier reopening to the public, which barring any unforeseen delays will be by June 1, 2017."

If you have any questions about the pier, you are asked to call Chief Doughney at 386-517-2020.
