Flagler County, FL - As Hurricane Irma impacts our area, the possibility of power outages increases dramatically, and power outages mean that traffic signals can become inoperable or may become flashing intermittent red or yellow signals.
Below is some information from the Flagler Beach Police Department in order to educate motorists about power outages in regards to traffic lights.
One Florida Statute specifically addresses vehicles approaching intersections in which traffic lights are inoperative. It reads as follows:
"The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection in which the traffic lights are inoperative shall stop in the manner indicated for approaching a stop intersection. A violation of this statute is a non-criminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation."
