Orange City, FL - The FL Department of Health (DOH) in Volusia county is set to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a new, consolidated location in Orange City.

The ceremony will be held at 9 AM on Wednesday, September 21, at 775 Harley Strickland Blvd in Orange City. The Volusia County Council and West Volusia elected officials have been invited and the public is encouraged to attend. The ceremony will be followed by an open house (9:15 - 10 AM) and attendees will be given a tour of the new office.

“The Orange City location will offer more services in one location,” said DOH-Volusia Administrator Patricia Boswell. “This is more convenient for our West Volusia clients.”

The new office will serve Orange City as well as Deltona, Debary, and DeLand. The new location will be close to other healthcare providers and the public transportation hub serving those cities, including Votran routes 20, 21, 22, and 23.

Services offered at the new location include medical, dental, Women, Infants and Children (WIC), child and adult immunizations, travel immunizations, family planning, pregnancy testing and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

DOH services in west Volusia were dispersed to various locations after a tornado destroyed the DeLand clinic on February 2, 2007. Since then the Department has been working diligently to get funding and to find a good location for consolidating services and improving client access, and officials hope this new location does just that.

"In addition to Orange City we have 1 other consolidated location and that's in Daytona Beach," said Holly Smith, Public Information Officer for Volusia County's DOH. "It's on Fentress Blvd and it offers all of the same services. Down in New Smyrna Beach we offer some of those services, and we'll be expanding those as well. So eventually we will have 3 locations where people can go and get everything under 1 roof."
