Watermelon Blow up

Daytona Beach, FL-The Daytona Beach Fire Department held a media presentation on fireworks safety Monday. Chief Drew Driscoll suggests leaving fireworks to the pros during the 4th of July holiday. To make his point, Driscoll had a firefighter demonstrate an M-80 type device while blowing up a watermelon.

Driscoll did have some safety tips for those that just have to have fireworks. He highly recommends having a bucket of water and a hose handy.

District Chief at the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office, Orlando Area, Kimberly Mendoza said that the Fire Marshal's Office has deemed a number of fireworks safe for use by the public.  Mendoza said those fireworks are only really safe if you take the proper precautions.
