Fiery, Head-On Collision On Tomoka Farms Rd Leaves 1 Dead, Another Injured

Daytona Beach, FL - A driver was killed in an early morning head-on collision in Daytona Beach on Wednesday after their pickup truck burst into flames.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department was called to the wreck at 800 N. Tomoka Farms Rd. in front of the Carmax at around 6:22 AM on the morning of July 19. As they approached the scene, firefighters could see a large column of smoke. When they arrived, one of the vehicles involved in the accident was already fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked as quickly as possible to contain the blaze.

According to DBFD, two pickup trucks were driving in different directions on Tomoka Farms Rd. when the truck heading south swerved into the northbound lane and crashed into the other pickup head-on. The southbound pickup caught fire and quickly became fully involved.

The northbound driver was able to get out of his truck on his own, but the southbound driver wasn't and DBFD has confirmed that they died at the scene. The identity of the deceased is not yet known. The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the crash.

The survivor suffered injuries to his leg and back and was brought to the hospital for treatment. Tomoka Farms Rd. was shut down as a result of the wreck.
