FHP Reopens I-95 In Daytona Beach Following Closures Due To Beville Rd. Wildfire

Daytona Beach, FL - After remaining closed overnight due to a wildfire, I-95 in Daytona Beach has reopened as of Saturday morning.

At around 3:30 PM on Friday, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) shut down both directions of I-95 due to poor visibility as a result of a fire near Beville Rd., west of Williamson Blvd., in Daytona Beach. Both directions remained closed overnight between mile marker 255 and mile marker 260. Northbound I-95 was shut down at SR 421 and southbound was shut down at I-4. As of 7:45 AM on Saturday, April 7, the Florida Forest Service of Bunnell indicated that the fire remained at 37 acres and was 90% contained. At around 8:40 AM on Saturday, FHP began the process of re-opening I-95 in both directions. Officials said that they will continue to monitor roadway conditions.
