Palm Coast, FL - A 38-year-old Palm Coast man is dead after troopers say he fell off a motorcycle and crashed in the city's R-section.

The accident was reported around 12:45 this morning (December 7th) at a residence on Rickenbacker Drive near Rippling Brook Drive.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Joseph James Faircloth was riding a 2004 Big Dog northbound on Rickenbacher when he failed to turn at a left curve and drove onto the grassy shoulder on the right side of the road.

Troopers say that's when Faircloth fell from the motorcycle, with driver and machine hitting a mailbox before both came to a stop on a private driveway.

FHP's report shows that Faircloth wasn't wearing a helmet and was on his back when first responders arrived.

An autopsy report is pending to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

No other vehicles or people were involved, per troopers at the scene.

Rickenbacker between both ends of Rippling Brook were closed for hours while investigators processed the scene. It has since re-opened.
