Volusia County, FL-FHP says one person died and two others were hurt in a head-on collision Tuesday night on SR 46 near Dusty Lane in Volusia County. The crash happened at 11:50 PM.
Troopers say a 2006 Dodge Ram truck was eastbound on SR 46 and went to pass another eastbound vehicle. As the truck entered the westbound lane to pass, it hit an oncoming westbound vehicle. Another westbound vehicle following at a distance could not stop and ended up hitting the truck when it came to a stop after the accident.
The driver of the Dodge Ram is in critical condition at Parrish Hospital. The driver of the eastbound 2002 Toyota Camry was killed in the accident. He is identified as 41-year-old Xiaochi Jiang of Sanford. The driver of the second westbound vehicle is identified as Darrian Volz of Longwood. He had serious injuries and is also at Parrish Hospital.
FHP says the investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
