Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Update: The victim who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Daytona Beach on Sunday has been identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey Martin of Ormond Beach.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is still looking for the suspect in the crash. The vehicle which caused the crash after the driver ran a stop sign was not reported stolen at the time of the crash; however, FHP says the registered owner of that vehicle was not the driver.

Earlier Reporting:

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Daytona Beach on Sunday night and witnesses told law enforcement officers that the driver then got into another vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect, who was driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck, was heading northbound on San Jose Boulevard at around 5:15 PM. The victim, who hasn't been identified yet, was riding his motorcycle east on 13th street. The suspect ran the stop sign at that intersection and the front of the victim's motorcycle hit the left side of the Ford pickup.

After the crash, witnesses said the driver of the Ford pickup truck, described as a black man who was wearing a red hat, a white tank top, and jean shorts, got out of his vehicle and called someone on his cell phone. Minutes later, a white Nissan Altima pulled up and the suspect got in and left the scene.

FHP says the crash is under investigation and charges are pending. Anyone with information should call FHP at 407-737-2213.
