Pierson, FL - The death of a 56-year-old Pierson man whose body was found in a rural part of Volusia County last night (August 9th) is now under investigation.
The incident along Bunnell Road near Lake George Road initially looked like a fatal hit and run, but the medical examiner now says otherwise, according to Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Kim Montes.
"The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by the fire department [just after 10 p.m.]," Montes added.
Troopers are investigating how the man's body got to the scene while the county medical examiner's officer is trying to figure out exactly how he died.
The victim's next of kin have not been located, per Montes.
