Pierson, FL - Update: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has released the names of two people who were killed following a crash that occurred in Pierson early Friday morning.

17-year-old Donald Morley Jr., of Seville and 19-year-old Edward Gibbons were both killed as a result of a crash that occurred on US-17 near Dickey Lane, north of FL-40, at around 5:45 AM.

FHP says Morley was driving southbound along US-17 in an SUV when for an unknown reason, his vehicle drifted into the northbound lanes and struck Gibbons's Jeep Wrangler. A Chevy pickup traveling northbound on US-17 struck the Jeep and overturned, and a Ford Escape traveling northbound on US-17 struck the SUV.

Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the initial crash. FHP says the incident is being investigated as three separate crashes, and all crashes remain under investigation.
