Daytona Beach, FL - FEMA mitigation specialists will be on hand in Daytona Beach for the next week to answer questions and offer tips on how to protect your property from flooding and natural disasters.

The specialists will be at the Home Depot in Daytona Beach at 2455 W International Speedway Blvd from Thursday, November 10, through Tuesday, November 15. Specialists will be at the Home Depot from 7 AM to 6 PM on Thursday and Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and from 7 AM to 5 PM on Monday and Tuesday.

The info is free and it's geared towards homeowners and general contractors. "Unfortunately we know that it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when another storm is going to hit," said John Mills, who's with FEMA in Orlando. "The only question is really the severity. And they have specialists who can answer questions and offer tips on topics such as flood proofing a home, elevating utilities, removing and replacing wet drywall... things like that."

You can also call the FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program at 1-800-621-3362 to get help with policy questions, service claims, technical assistance, and general info.

The Disaster Recovery Center in Daytona Beach is still open. It's located at the FL Department of Health building at 1845 Holsonback Dr and it's open Monday through Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM.
