Palm Coast, FL - Flagler County is closing its call-in center because FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center, and the county is offering free rides to the center for residents.
The Disaster Recovery Center is located at the Palm Coast Library at 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW. The location will be open 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday and it'll be closed on Sundays.
Disaster Recovery Centers serve as one-stop shops for eligible storm survivors seeking one-on-one help. Representatives from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and various state agencies will be at the center to answer questions.
FEMA recommends that residents register before going to the Disaster Recovery Center. To register go to
DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362. This will make things move quicker when you do get the the center.
Residents who have locally focused questions can call the Flagler County Administration offices during normal business hours at 386-313-4001 and people living in Palm Coast can call the customer service line at 386-986-2360, but all the other call-in numbers have been shut down. “Most of the calls we have been fielding have been specific to FEMA,” Flagler County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “Representatives from FEMA will be better able to answer residents’ questions about the federal processes.”
If you need a ride to the Disaster Recovery Center, Flagler County's transportation department is offering free rides. All you have to do is call 386-313-4100 to schedule one. “They will need to tell the dispatcher at the time of the call that they need a ride to the Disaster Recovery Center at the Palm Coast Library,” said General Services Director Heidi Petito. “Residents do not need to be registered with us to get a ride to the center, as it is above and beyond our regular service.”
FDEM and FEMA officials continue to work closely with local officials in hard-hit areas to identify possible sites for additional centers. Survivors can also locate the center by visiting the
