Public Invited To Information Meeting On NSB's Plan For New Barracuda Bridge

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Residents will soon have the opportunity to voice their opinions about the replacement of the Barracuda Bridge across the Canal Brandano waterway in New Smyrna Beach.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a public information meeting about the project from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, December 5. The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers at the City of New Smyrna Beach City Hall, located at 210 Sams Avenue. Attendees are asked to enter the building from the south side from Julia Street.

The bridge FDOT is proposing will be longer than the current bridge. The design elements of the new bridge include a concrete deck, 2 11-foot travel lanes, an 8-foot sidewalk, shoulders, and bride and pedestrian rails. The road approaching the bridge will also be repaved. The City of New Smyrna, FDOT, and Federal funding will cover the costs of the new bridge.

Information about the project will be on display before the meeting. From 5:30 to 6 PM a short presentation will be given. Attendees will be able to ask project representatives questions.
