FCSO: Trio Arrested For Car Burglaries

Palm Coast, FL - Two thieves, including one minor, are arrested by deputies in Flagler County as a flip-flop leads to the arrest of a third.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office were called to Rymfire Drive around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in response to a suspicious person call. While that call went out, other FCSO deputies in the area who were patrolling Red Mill Drive observed two males running across the street.

They were soon stopped as they tried to leave the area, according to FCSO officials.

Deputies quickly searched the area where the two were located and found gloves, a digital camera, a female wallet, and one Nike flip-flop. As they continued their search they found another wallet and a matching Nike flip-flop, leading them to believe there was at least one other suspect.

A search perimeter was soon set up and it didn't take long until another male was spotted on Red Mill Drive without any shoes.

After questioning they identified the suspects as 18-year-old Wayne Williams and 19-year-old Willie Green. A 16-year-old was the third one arrested but WNDB News isn't identifying him because he's underage.

They found out that Green drove the trio to Ralph Carter Park near Rymfire Elementary with the intention they all split up and attempt to burglarize as many vehicles as they can.

“This is another outstanding job by our deputies,” said Sheriff Staly. “They thought they could creep around in the middle of the night, steal people’s property, and get away with it. But, unfortunate for them, we are always watching our neighborhoods and you are not going to just be able to hide in the woods. Let this be a lesson to thieves everywhere that want to prey on our hardworking residents; if you run from our deputies you will just go to jail tired... and possibly shoeless.”

Williams was arrested for felony burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Green was arrested for burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, criminal contempt to conspire and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The 16-year-old was arrested for felony burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, criminal contempt to conspire and violation of misdemeanor probation. He was processed at Sheriff Perry Hall Detention Facility before being released to his parents after the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice refused to hold him.

All three suspects identified the vehicles they attempted to burglarize, returning all stolen property to the owners.
