FCSO: Towel-Wearing Man Broke Into Airbnb Home

Palm Coast, FL - Noises which scared two Swedish women enough to lock themselves into a bedroom to call 911 leads to the arrest of a Palm Coast man for breaking into a home.

58-year-old Leonard J. Tadeo was wearing nothing but a towel when a Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy responding to the emergency call found him inside the garage of the home on Woodlawn Drive.

According to the arrest report, those women - both 18 years old - had rented the home through Airbnb for five weeks and were there for only one when Tadeo broke in just after 6 a.m. Tuesday (October 9th).

The women told dispatchers they heard someone knocking on the front door and trying to open the rear doors just before they called.

When questioned, Tadeo claimed it was his home and he was living there, but when FCSO reached the listed homeowner, she told them he did not and that he was someone she had dated a long time ago, per the report.

It was also noted in the report that FCSO had been dispatched to the home one other time in the past involving Tadeo. In that case, the owner had asked deputies to make him leave after she was unsatisfied with a bathroom remodel he had been working on and he refused to go on his own.

Deputies found "multiple sets" of wet clothes in the garage along with a bag which held syringes and several personal hygiene items, both presumably belonging to Tadeo.

A search of the home turned up a broken window on the side door of the garage, which deputies think Tadeo caused by throwing part of a concrete paver against it so he could reach through it to unlock the door and get inside.

Other damage was also discovered to the home's exterior, including molding which had been peeled off a garage door and a partially removed window screen.

As of today, Tadeo remains under a $10,000 bond at Flagler County Jail on a burglary charge.
